“My very first experience with acupuncture was when I was 5 years old. My mother took me to see a Chinese Medicine Doctor who helped clear a recurrent sty infection in both eyes. He was an elderly man in his 80’s but full of vigor.” – Siatnee Chong

PERSONAL BIO

Siatnee Chong comes from a fifth-generation Chinese medicine lineage, where the wisdom of natural healing was an integral part of everyday life. Growing up in a Chinese family in Borneo, her upbringing was steeped in the rich traditions of Chinese Medicine and native herbal practices. Daily meals, herbal teas, and tonics were not only nourishment, but intentional tools to strengthen immunity and prevent disease. This early exposure quietly ignited a deep-rooted interest in natural medicine that would later shape her life’s work.

Her first encounter with acupuncture occurred at the age of five—a moment that remains vivid to this day. After suffering from recurrent sty infections in both eyes, her mother brought her to see a Chinese Medicine doctor, an elderly yet vibrant man who had fled to Southeast Asia during political turmoil, carrying with him medical knowledge from before the Cultural Revolution. Using ear acupuncture with Vaccaria seeds soaked in herbal medicine, along with a personalized herbal formula, he resolved the infection completely. That single experience planted the seed of her lifelong love for natural medicine.

After migrating to California, Siatnee fell in love with the state’s emphasis on health, wellness, and eco-conscious living. She went on to build a successful career in international sales and marketing, but the demanding travel schedule and high-pressure environment eventually took a toll on her health. Seeking balance and restoration, she turned to yoga, meditation, Qi Gong, Tai Ji, and a vegetarian diet, practices that became essential to her healing. This path led her to become a yoga teacher and to deepen her study of ancient movement and energy practices as a means of sustainable vitality.

This personal healing journey ultimately reignited her passion for natural medicine and prompted her to formally study Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)—a return to the foundational principles she had grown up with. Through rigorous training and clinical practice, she deepened her understanding of Yin and Yang, Qi and Xue, the Five Elements, herbal medicine, and the meridian system, allowing ancient wisdom to inform modern, compassionate care.

A profound turning point came when Siatnee’s older sister was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer. Standing by her side throughout her illness, she witnessed firsthand the power of integrating Eastern and Western medicine. Alongside conventional treatments, her sister was supported with herbal medicine, moxibustion, massage, and energy work—care that helped extend her quality of life for five meaningful years. Though her sister eventually passed peacefully, Siatnee is deeply grateful to have supported her in fulfilling her bucket list and leaving a loving legacy for her young son.

This experience solidified Siatnee’s belief in the body’s innate capacity to heal and strengthened her commitment to bridging Eastern and Western medicine. Today, her work is guided by lineage, lived experience, and clinical expertise—serving patients with care that honors the past while supporting healing in the present.

“No matter what kind of ailments you have, having a true healer by your side is equally important as the type of medicine you are taking. One who walks with you on your journey, compassionate in nature and points you in the right direction. It might be one person or a team of healers, all of them count toward your healing goal”.
